We run a variety of workshops, during the holidays and on weekends.

Kids Art & Craft club every Thursday at Federal.

Summer School Holidays

$15 per session + materials ($4-15)

Magical creatures.

Tuesdays 8th & 15th July 2008 10am to 1.30pm

Two half day workshops where 6 to 12 year olds transform themselves into a magical character from their imagination with mixed media and costume making.

Facilitators ::
Lissa Maloney. Dip. Graphic design. Artist, Designer, Mother. I love to inspire and help people to create art for the sheer fun of it.
Lee Maloney. Grad. Yr. 12 Cape Byron Steiner School. Artist. Illustrator. I love encouraging children to express themselves through art and play.

Theme :: Magical imagined creatures.  A workshop full of colour, texture and sensory inspiration. We will have work benches, paints and mixed media materials.

Venue :: Federal Hall, next to the Church, Federal.

What we will do :: Day One, we will use our imagination to create a magical creature in mixed media on canvas. Participants will receive guidance in illustration fundamentals, painterly techniques and experiment with a variety of mediums. Day Two, we will each create parts of the costumes we imagined, with fabric, wire, body paint, and we will embody our creature wearing our costumes. There will be inspiring music throughout the days.

Schedule ::
Day One.
9.50-10.00 Welcome.
10.00-10.15 Introduction and Overview of mediums and techniques.
10.15 Imagining your creature, drawing and writing about it and then sharing with the group.
10.45 Morning Tea.
11.00-1.00pm Creating. Bringing the creature into existance with painting and mixed media.
1.00 Lunch.
1.15 Talking about what we have done today, and what we will do next week.

Day 2. Similar structure but

Please provide morning tea and lunch :: Simple healthy food please. Bring own drink bottle. We'll have morning tea at 10.45 and then lunch at 1.00pm.

What to bring :: 1. Packed lunch and drink bottle. Day 1. Wear clothes that don’t matter if they get messy, or bring big old shirt to wear while painting. Day 2. Wear something that will be a good base for your creature. Bring any clothes or materials that will add to your creature. If your imagined creature is green, wear green, and bring anything that you think will help your creature.

Special memories :) :: Parts of the day are photographed, and images can be emailed to you. Parents, bring your camera when you pick them up.

Cost :: $33 per day. (incl. some material costs) per child. 
Although I will provide materials, it will greatly enhance the the costume if you can bring some material, or other things, that you can use for the costume.

The cost will not include full body costume making because of the cost of material and time needed. For example, if your child imagines a dragon we may make a long dragon tail or a headpiece, and then do face and body paint. We won't be creating a full body dragon suit. The emphasis is on the child imagining the creature, creating it in great detail in mixed media on canvas (which can be framed), and then embodying the creature on the second day.

The option would be there for the participant to develop their creation much further and could lead them into wanting to pursue it through wearable art or sculpture or a larger canvas. We could have further workshops of smaller groups to to do this if the interest is there.

Jamie's Creation

Creating Jamie's Masterpiece

The artwork below is something that came to me when I tuned in about what Jamie would love me to create for her. It is quite large, (1000mm x 1500mm), and fills the room with passion and vitality.

In return for an artwork, Jamie is coaching me to create a structure to follow for both individual artworks and group workshops. So even though I have painted this, we will be following the structure that Jamie will be introducing me to, through a period of 6 weeks, with 3 checkpoints. What a wonderful exchange!

Vision of Jamie’s Transformation Session 1 :: 10th Feb

Jamie is a dancer. She is dancing through life, and literally moving her body to music, feeling the rhythm of life and working with it, flaunting, shining her beautiful light, bringing colour and joy to herself and others. She is having so much fun, really enjoying herself. It's addictive, she can't get enough, and yet it feels so natural for her, and she inspires others to bring beauty and colour to life.

Jamie wants to be somewhere where she can totally relax, like she is on holiday. She wants to take life easy, slow paced, totally relaxed. Her ideal pace is slower than the current norm.

On her journey, I show Jamie what she needs to keep close to her heart, and what things are important to her. I show her the natural resources she has inside herself that need to recognised and encouraged, in order for her to be in a place of permanent bliss.

Jamie and I have completed this project.

Pure Creative Sessions

A 6 week course for individuals to create an art piece from your heart. I will guide you through a series of exercises and processes to see how you can shine your light in the world, and what has been stopping you from doing this so far. At the end of the 6 weeks you will have created something that your heart truly wants to create more than anything in the world. First session Free!

The transformation Process I guide you through

I take my clients on a journey to create an artwork that their heart would love. You share this journey, as an observer and a participant. The actual artwork becomes the secondary benefit. The journey you have been on with me begins a new day, and you then go on to create the rest of your life without me, the artwork is a souvenir of our experience together.

The first step is that I reveal what's been stopping you from shining your light and expressing your true power, why you play small. Are you shrinking so that people won't feel insecure around you? Are you afraid you're not good enough, not safe, or haven't got the time or money? In other words, you egoic relationship with "We are pure creative spirit, powerful beyond measure" and how that is reflected in you surroundings.

It's like I have a sub-premise: ".... but we play small and pretend we are inconsequential..."
Next step is revealing how you would love to use this artwork as a doorway to shining your light and expressing you power in the world. Next step is how to create the artwork. Then I show you that you don't need the props that most people use on their journey. I show you the power within yourself and how that is more powerful and relying on other sources of energy.

Session 1

We ask ourselves 4 questions in an intuitive exercise that I teach you:

1. Clarify what exactly your spirit would love me to help you create.

2. Your Ego's relationship with the Premise, and what's been stopping you from shining your light and expressing your true power?

3. How you would love to use this artwork as a doorway to shining your light and expressing your power in the world?

4. What is it your Heart knows we need to do do get to your Vision magically?

Session 2

We do a conflict exercise to see where the power lies. Are you creating your Vision from your Spirit, or are your fears and beliefs limiting your vision?

Session 3

It is time to look at three things:

1. Where are you in relation to your the vision of your Artwork? What are your obstacles in completing the Artwork?

2. What action steps from the last session have you completed in the past 2 weeks, affirming to yourself that you are Pure Creative Spirit, powerful beyond measure?

3. What action steps can you complete in the next 2 weeks to bring your Artwork to life?

Session 4 The Unveiling

We have completed the 6 week course and you now have a beautiful, tangible representation of your heart.

We now do a completion exercise

1. What did I create?

2. Was it what I envisioned?

3. Do I need to adjust it to reach my vision?

4. Where was my focus? What was my motivation? (Let go of what wasn't true)

5. What have I learnt?

6. What would I love to Create next?

Then we sign off on this particular creative process. This allows the room to embark on another journey.
