Girls Workshop :: All that Glitters and Sparkles
A wonderful day! 8 beautiful girls came to my fairy themed
workshop.
We had a great time.
The day started with the girls gathering and arranging flowers for our vases.
We then got down to the first business of the day :: painting our fairies from our imaginations. I facilitated, making sure everyone had enough paint and glue, and helping them to access their imagination if they requested help.
Maddy, my co-facilitator, supplied bite size samples of exquisite fabrics, so the girls could be inspired with what their fairy would be dressed in.
After lunch, one by one, the girls shared their vision for their fairies with the group. Each took their turn describing the colours, wing shape and what their fairy loved to do in her spare time when she wasn't making her clothes and wings.
It was so lovely to hear them explaining this.
In pairs they then began to choose and cut fabrics, and design patterns, to be appliqued on their skirts, with Maddy's expert help.

Meanwhile, I constructed wire frames for fairy wings, and my other lovely helpers cut fabric and helped the girls bring their wings to life.
We certainly had all that Glitters and Sparkles! There was tulle, netting and fluffy fabrics to fit out a kingdom of fairy alter egos!
It was interesting to see the girls all so absorbed with their work, There was even impromptu costume making with leaves out on the veranda. Arh, unbridled creativity!
The next chapter for this group will be a face painting, dress ups and choreography day using the costumes they designed on the day.
A fairy comment :: "I wish we could do this every Sunday!" [Thank you!]
More images will be up soon, along with more comments from some of the girls, so stay tuned. :)
I had such a great response, I will be holding more of these workshops, the next one in August, so if you know someone who would love to come along, email me to reserve their place.
